Retirement Security Program

Cash Account Pension Plan
This pension plan is paid by the hospital. Annual contribution to each employee's plan is based on their years of service - ranging from 4% to 8% of pay - plus annual interest credit. This program also offers a lump sum distribution option. You are 100% vested after three years of service.

Matching Tax-Sheltered Annuity 403(b) Plan
Employees can set aside their own money for retirement on a pre-tax basis (for current caps on contribution amounts, please contact the Benefits Office at (203) 688-2401).

This program offers several investment funds from which participating employees can choose. Employees who contribute at least 5% of their pay receive a hospital match of 3%. Partial vesting for Yale New Haven Health System's matching contribution begins at two years of service, with 100% vesting at five years of service.

Retiree Medical Account
Developed in direct response to feedback from our employees, this health care program is designed to help employees and their spouses pay for medical premiums and health care expenses following retirement from Yale New Haven Health System. Available to both full-time and part-time employees, this program is funded fully by the System - no employee contributions are required - and provides up to a maximum of $12,000 in funds for post-retirement medical care expenses.
